It's That Time Of Year Again!

It's amazing how quickly time flies! This weekend, while you're still belly aching from all the Halloween candy, the calendar will flip to November, and it will be less than eight weeks until Christmas! Here at Christmas Word Search, we've already started gathering new material for this year, and will began posting new word searches and Christmas crossword puzzles on a regular basis. The good news is, my daughter started school this year and we are very active parents in the school. We are working with the elementary teachers, helping them compile a huge list of word searches and crossword puzzles, and we will also be submitting our findings to this site.

We still have a few days until Halloween! For all you loyal teachers that follow our puzzle blogs, I wanted to share a nice children's activity book. This book contains over sixty pages of word puzzles, math worksheets, writing activities, mazes, cards, bookmarks, coloring pages, and games for all age levels. If you're looking for a few last minute ideas to keep your kids occupied, and you from going stir-crazy the rest of this week, this book is your answer!

Christmas Word Search for Teachers

The great teacher's resource A to Z Teacher Stuff has posted a new Christmas word search. What I like about this puzzle is that it's played out on a small 15 x 15 grid, but the letters are spaced out, making it a little easier to spot the words. There are fifteen words to find and shouldn't take too long to complete. You're sure to enjoy this Christmas word search!

Another Christmas Word Search with a Hidden Message

Here is another good one for the younger crowd with another hidden message. This Christmas word search is played out on a small 15 x 15 grid and consists of only fifteen words to find. But after you find the fifteen words, your next challenge is to decode the hidden message. Download this Christmas word search in PDF format from Love to Learn Place.

Mystery Message Christmas Word Search

Today I present you with a great Christmas word search from ERPI International. The word search is played on a large 18 x 18 grid, and consists of a whopping sixty-three words that need to be found. The twist with this word search is that once you have found all the words, you'll then need to decode the mystery message at the bottom of the word search!

Like all the others, this Christmas word search is in PDF format, and can be downloaded directly from the ERPI web site. There is a border of Christmas holly on the page and will look great if printed on a color printer. I hope you enjoy this printable Christmas word search!

Holiday Puzzlers

I picked up a copy of the book Holiday Puzzlers, which is great to have on-hand all year long. Not only is it packed with Christmas word searches, it also covers many more holidays that occur throughout the year!

The book itself is sixty-four pages and contains fifty-four pages. The puzzles range from word searches, crossword puzzles, and other related word-based puzzles. Holidays covered include Veterans Day, Election Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and more. It's targeted for readers with a ninth to twelfth grade education and vocabulary. Throughout the various puzzles, the puzzler hones their skills at vocabulary, decoding, spelling patterns, and visual thinking. Another great thing about this book is that it just might entice the puzzler to learn more on a subject. There are some terms in the Election Day puzzle that I wasn't aware of, and in a matter of moments on Google, I was able to educate myself a little more on that subject!

This book could be a great learning tool for your high school aged teen and will promote strengthening their word skills as an alternative fun learning tool. I highly recommend you order a copy of Holiday Puzzlers if you have a child that is struggling with vocabulary and spelling, or it would make a great inexpensive gift for a family or friend who just loves word puzzles!

Another Non-Standard Christmas Word Search

I'm really beginning to like the puzzles from The Teacher's Corner! Here is another printable Christmas word search that doesn't conform to the standard grid layout.

This one is in the shape of a big smiley face! I'm not sure how the smiley face relates to Christmas, but it sure is fun to do! With there being no letters to make up the gaps for the eyes and mouth, it adds a whole new dimension of complexity.

There are thirty-nine words to find, including the majority of Santa's reindeer's names. You can download the Christmas word search in PDF format directly from The Teacher's Corner.
